Arrival Managua

“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”                                        –Robert Louis Stevenson

Many seeming hiccups en-route- from disconcerting leg cramps to no taxi pick-up and wrong hotel name. Friendly, helpful people, at airport, and in wrong hotel and I remember to lean into the wind. All is well.

I meet the 11 people in the group (13 with myself)

  • Ben from England --dog sled guide in Norway
  • Kate from Calgary --RN
  • Mel and Jen from Australia. Sisters; Jen an accountant
  • Janette from Zurich, Switzerland - Energy to spare
  • Daniel and Angela from Germany- Daniel is between jobs and Angela works in a factory - inventory and ordering and spreadsheets
  • Farnez from B.C-- accountant
  • Jocylene and Caroline from Montréal. Jocylene is retired from Hydro Quebec and Caroline has a management job
  • Carlos Salas M our tour guide  naturalist and white water guide- from La Fortuna, Costa Rica
  • Ages 27 to 62. Also solo travelers- sisters have met up for trip.
  • We have already bonded and, except for Daniel, we are all a titch nervous about keeping up on long days. We all love biking. Daaa!
* I may have the facts wrong about occupations.

This is the group.
Today we will bike by 23 k and then ferry to Ometope Island to stay in homestays.  Our hosts won't be able to speak English.
